Is it safe to use a microwave?

We personally don’t use microwaves but have a lot of clients who want to use them for convenience to warm something up at work or home when they are pressed for time.

At TNC we always work with where our clients are at and what makes sense for their lifestyle.

Microwaves don’t necessarily fit into our lifestyle but we recognize how they might make life a lot easier for some of our clients. If it is a choice between eating out at every meal or reheating home cooked food- home cooked food always wins.

If you do use a microwave here is what we suggest:

  1. -Never heat anything in plastic to avoid leaching of materials like BPA into your food.

  2. -Microwaves are a form of electromagnetic radiation similar to that used in cell phones, however most of this radiation stays within the microwave. Even so, it is a good idea to stand a distance from the microwave when it is on.

  3. -There is also some evidence that compared to other forms of cooking, it can preserve the nutrients so try not to feel bad about ‘nuking’ your food and focus on the benefits of having cooked your own healthy meal.

We are here to help you get to the root of your symptoms.
